3 Premises of Interconnectedness'
Premises One
St Francis was a man of faith and love. He saw the presence of
God in everything around him. When he encountered nature, he encountered God. St
Francis was not an animist or a pantheist, therefore he didn’t worship “god”in
the trees and water but more in the animals and creatures. When he was in the
environment he knew that “God was there”. For Francis the world and creatures
around him brought him closer to God and world peace.
Like Francis we need to see God in the things around us and in
the environment. In the hard times in life we need to remember the God is
looking after us and caring for us. We need to have hope and remember that he
is always there and will never let us down. If we do this we will, like
Francis, became closer to the present of God and world peace and love. For if we
become closer to God we can use this to bring another people in our lives closer
to him and therefore bring our own personal world closer to peace and
love.

Premises Two
St Francis saw humans as the pinnacle of all God’s creation.
Women, men and children were, in Francis’ eyes, to be represented and cared for.
Francis did this by following the teachings in the Bible and loving every
person he met.
“All praise be yours, my Lord, through all that you have made,
and first my lord Brother Sun...”
Caring for people is not only caring for them physical but also
mentally. We need to hear their needs and care for their feelings and emotions
along with their physical health. We don’t practically have to follow the
Bibles teachings word-for-word but we need to understand the basic teachings and
put them into our own lives. Many people around the world are suffering due to
war or poverty. We may not be able to physical help them in different ways but
giving them hope and showing love towards them will give them the strength to
have faith and overcome the hardships they are facing. We need to also show love
and respect to the people who are our friends and family and like Francis, call everyone
our brothers and sisters.

Premises Three
St Francis had a deep personal relationship with
Jesus, especial in the last three years of his life. The marks of the Crucified
Jesus, known as the stigmata, were marked on Francis' body.
Francis was the first person in Christian history to have received this
amazing gift. When he helped others, he was doing it through the eyes and heart
of Jesus. For Francis, Jesus is seen and in every body especial in the
poor and outcast. This can be shown through the story of when Francis embraced
the leper on the road. He not only kissed the leper but also kissed Jesus who
was incarnated in the leper.
Jesus is present in everybody and, like Francis, we need to show
love and respect to every person we met. We need to bare the Crucified Jesus in
own hearts. We need to forget about our own needs for once and care more about
the needs of others, following in the footsteps of St
Francis.
